Do You Need a "Health Impact Plan?"

November 27, 20234 min read

“Time and health are two precious assets that we don't recognize and appreciate until they have depleted.” - Denis Waitley

Introduction:

The phrase “It’s too late” is one I don’t like. Time is one of those things you can’t get back once it’s gone. That’s why taking your health seriously now is everything.

This is something I discovered when I turned fifty four in 2023. That wakeup call changed my life. All of this made me realize I needed a “Health Impact Plan” to make my changes real.

8 Reasons

Here are five things you need to create your "Health Impact Plan." Having these in your arsenal can help you gain better health in 2024 and beyond! 👊

1. Health Impact Assessment

You can’t make a plan until you assess how your health has been impacted. So, here are five reasons you should create your health impact plan to start getting healthier for 2024 and beyond!

When I bring on a new Plexus VIP Customer, here’s the first part of their plan to get the transformation they want. They get a “Health Impact Assessment.”  Let’s say you want to lose weight. During your health impact assessment we would list the number of specific impacts weight gain has had on your body.

We do this, so you can see where you’re at. That will determine where you want to go and how to get there. It’s not enough to buy a health product, service and so on. Most people do this, use it for a while and put it away.

2. Choose Your "Transformational Goals"

Setting health goals isn’t enough. Your heart and mind doesn’t care about calories or pounds. But they do care about how getting healthier will make you feel. That’s why you need to set transformational goals. These are goals that tell you, one or more areas of your life have changed for the better.

Going down one or more pants sizes, gaining more energy, or getting compliments about your appearance are a few examples. Plus, transformational goals are custom. Only you will know when a big, positive change has happened for your health. So, list three to five transformational goals you can’t wait to achieve.

3. Determine Your Emotions

Here’s a forgotten secret about getting healthier; The “guilt and shame cycle” keeps you from trying to improve your health, due to past failures. And the key is, you haven’t failed. You actually learned from your past mistakes.

One of the things I ask my new VIP Customers is, “How have these impacts on your health made you feel?” The answers range from angry, sad to resigned, meaning they’ve given up. Being honest about your negative emotions opens the door to positive ones. The more you want to get healthier the more likely you will get there.

4. Decide What You Will Eat

Let’s get down to the nitty-gritty of better health. It’s time for you to get honest about what you want to eat! Too many of us lie to ourselves about this. Years ago, I admitted I love chocolate cake. There’s no way I can eat sugary and fattening chocolate cake now. How did I overcome this reality?

I found the healthiest version of chocolate cake I could find! Turns out stores like Fred Meyer have gluten and sugar-free chocolate cake mix. Problem solved! How about you? Once you decide what you love to eat, find the healthiest and tasty versions of those foods. Don’t lie to yourself. Yes, some things you will learn to let go over time. But others you can start changing now.

5. Prepare for "Meal Disasters"

You know the ones I’m talking about! We’ve all made resolutions, got off to a hot start and BANG! Now we have to travel somewhere. Or there’s a work event and lots sugary, salty, fattening food will be there. Worst part is you have no plan for how or what you will eat in these situations.

That’s where having a “Meal Disaster Plan” can help you. Sit down with a piece of paper. Write down what event can upend your healthy eating. If you’re going on an impromptu tip instate, where will you eat? What can you eat on the menu? Knowing your options by having an emergency eating plan like this will help you keep the pounds off.

Creating a health impact plan is the wise way to kick off your new year! And to have a realistic chance of accomplishing all of your health goals. Don't forget, as your Health Impact Specialist and Plexus Brand Ambassador, I'm here to help!
